Looking back over the years since I stepped into the modified world arena and I began my modified journey, it is with a joyous heart that I stand and see how far the modified community has come in the just over twenty years of my journey a journey which has led me to become one of the world's most modified individuals and the most modified transsexual in the world today.
I can't help but to smile with a heart filled with gratitude as I see this photo from our MOD Squad - Modify II Street Team in Slovenia. Just looking at the face of the little man giving his thumbs up as he proudly stands with his modified dad makes me happy to have founded MOD World six years ago.
From the onset, and through the first five years, we as an organization faced what appeared to be insurmountable obstacles. To see the MOD Squad - Modify II Street Team flourish today in a world where a double standard mindset prevails, and which is irrefutably, constantly, trying to limit our lives because society as a whole, sadly, still has not stepped into the twenty-first century, is nothing short of awe-inspiring.
When I founded MOD World in 2010, I knew that this project was one that would be destined for greatness or that, short of being a huge success, would at least make a big splash in the world, which it did, regardless of our slow push off the starting blocks.
In my years on this journey, I have seen the modified community grow in many areas, more modern ways of doing procedures, and better ways of making quality jewelry for example. and the mod scene has grown by leaps and bounds in numbers. In all it's advances, the one thing that was lacking is the interest from individuals wanting to help make the world a better place by essentially wanting to help educate the public about what body modification is and what it is not, with many sitting on their tushies doing nothing but complaining about not being accepted, or because they feel discriminated against because they sport a simple piercing or tattoo.
Through the years, I have seen new generations of modified individuals step into the same arena I did over twenty years ago, but, still, many lacked the enthusiasm or the interest in helping to move the modified community forward. Today, six years after it's birth, it is great to see our young boys and girls, standing at their parent's side, not even ready to get their first tattoo or body piercing, but giving a proud thumbs up to the cause of helping to educate the world, proud to stand next to their modified parent, showing the world, teaching the world about acceptance, through example. It warms my heart to see today's youth even in their early life, already standing up to make a difference in the world, as they prepare to take on the lead, continuing the work that the MOD - Squad Modify II Street Team is doing today as we plant the seeds of knowledge, already stepping up to the plate to bring about a much needed change in perceptions in the world today, towards modified people and the modified subculture.
Our message today is not a new message, taken from one of my personal favorite historical figures, Mahatma Gandhi, "be the change you want to see in the world today". As we plant these seeds, to see them germinate and take root with and in the lives of our children, ensures our work will continue into the future until this age of acceptance we are ushering in is known in all four corners of the world, and the day will come when modified people will be treated with respect and with the dignity we deserve.
For as much as there is indeed something to be said for these young warriors who will face certain trials and tribulations of their own as they enter adult life a few years down their road, there is so much to be said for the kind of parents our MOD World Next Generation have as their guide. These modified parents who serve as counselors and teachers in all that is right in their children's life. I give thanks to all modified parents who proactively teach their children about acceptance, and those modified parents who lead by example, helping to change people's perceptions about being different, and essentially, helping to change the world, one mind at a time.
It is with pride and joy that I write this blog, a happy parent myself being Tiamat, mother of the universe and mother of mankind, a happy mom, to see my children standing up against whatever odds they will have to face, ready to weather whatever storms may come and coming out victorious in achieving our goals and mission for MOD World and the MOD Squad - Modify II Street Team.
